St. John offers a variety of dialysis options for individuals with kidney failure. Inpatient dialysis treatment is available for patients who are hospitalized. We offer state-of-the-art SLED (slow, low-efficiency dialysis) for patients receiving intensive care for acute renal failure.
St. John offers high-efficiency hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis on an outpatient basis. Individuals at our on-campus facility are given the option of self-hemodialysis. Self-hemodialysis patients are active participants in their treatment; they set up their own dialysis machines, start their own intravenous lines, monitor machines during dialysis and check their own vital signs. Patients may also choose to dialyze at our north Tulsa facility, 1515 N. Harvard Avenue, or at our new, state-of-the-art facility in Sapulpa, 1013 E. Cleveland. Located in a free-standing building on the south side of the St. John Sapulpa campus, the new kidney dialysis center is capable of handling up to 72 patients over a 6-day schedule. St. John kidney dialysis centers are manned by highly-trained medical professionals and offer convenient hours. Because dialysis is such a time-consuming endeavor, we make every attempt to provide a comfortable atmosphere for our patients.
St. John Medical Center also offers nutrition counseling, education and support services for dialysis patients. Plus, we employ a special kidney transplant team which performed 18 transplant surgeries last year.
